ECONOMYNEXT – The central postal exchange of the Sri Lanka Customs department seized a parcel containing 13,640 tablets of methamphetamine or meth, known locally as ‘ice’, at an estimated market value of 136.4 million rupees, police said.
Sri Lanka Customs Deputy Director Sudaththa Silva said a suspicious parcel sent to Sri Lanka by post from the Netherlands was seized by the central postal exchange.
The recipient of the parcel was apprehended when he came forward to clear the parcel.
The drugs were handed over to the Narcotics Bureau of the Sri Lanka Police for further investigations, police said. (Colombo/Jun23/2022)
