Buses allowed inter-provincial transportation for essential services

A decision has been taken to allow buses operating on inter-provincial routes to carry passengers engaged in essential services, effective from the day after tomorrow (14), State Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama stated speaking to a vaccination program held in Kandy today (12).

In comparison inter-provincial transportation will be allowed for trains as well, the Minister said, adding that it would be mandatory to have a service identity card for those travelling in these buses and trains. 

Amunugama further noted that the vaccination program in Kandy District will be implemented expeditiously and the government expects to complete the vaccination of all citizens of age over 60 in the district before Dalada Perahera event this year.
