A team of lawyers has taken steps to file a case against State Minister Lohan Ratwatte in the Mannar High Court. That is, saying that the Minister of State had insulted the judiciary.
It has been alleged that the Minister of State who visited the Anuradhapura Prison last month behaved in a riotous manner and obstructed the activities of the prison. It is said that he had threatened a group of Tamil political prisoners detained at the prison kneel down and threatened them with pistols. The lawyers say that the minister’s action was an insult to the judiciary.
Earlier a similar case was filed against the State Minister in the Vavuniya Magistrate’s Court. In addition, the inmates involved in the prison incident have filed a fundamental rights petition in the Supreme Court.
