Iwura Rakina Pawuru initiative to commence tomorrow – 168,000 Kumbuk and Mee saplings to be planted on the banks of Mahaweli


The Iwura Rakina Pawura tree planting program organised to protect the banks of Mahaweli River, the longest river in Sri Lank, is due to commence tomorrow (16).

The inaugural ceremony will be held under the patronage of Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera at 10 am tomorrow in the Manampitiya area in Polonnaruwa centring on the banks of Mahaweli River.

168,000 saplings will be planted under the program, with Kumbuk and Mee saplings being given priority.
